Better Than Human: Why Robots Will — And Must — Take Our Jobs

This is a great article.  You’ll see me post lots of articles like this on this site because they’re important in developing a sense for some of what is going on around us.  Like many others, it describes a world that many believe to be science fiction.  The truth once again, however, is that many of the things described in this piece are either possible today or in the realm of the near rather than the distant future.  

Perhaps the most important takeaway from this piece is the breadth of impact that advances in artificial intelligence and robotics will have.  It’s hard to think of an industry that won’t in one way or another be impacted.  And the impacts will in many instances be truly transformational – both for the better and the worse depending on how you’re positioned in the value network and how proactive you are in positioning your business for the changes ahead.  

In my view, any strategy that doesn’t incorporate serious consideration of the potential impacts of advances in artificial intelligence and robotics in the short to mid-term is potentially fatally deficient.
